Warsaw Concert

Concert on June 5th 2021 during the 30th Mozart Festival of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, with Dirk Vermeulen conducting MACV - Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense.

On the program Mozart’s last three symphonies and honoured by the presence of special guest - Ambassador of Belgium in Poland Mr Luc Jacobs.

Nomination Album of the Year

I'm proud to announce that my last CD recorded in Poland "Stanislaw Moniuszko: Crimmean Sonnets", with Chór Polskiego Radia, {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna! and Aleksander Kunach, tenor, was nominated for the most important Polish music award "Fryderyk" in the category: "Album of the year: Oratorio and opera music"!

Beethoven year 2020

Starting the Beethoven year 2020 with an excellent performance of Beethoven's violin concerto during a New Year Concert in Gent on Sunday 5 January with violinist Lorenzo Gatto and Prima La Musica.

Concert in Krakow - August 30, 2019

Please enjoy these pictures of the concert held last Friday, August 30th in Krakow: I had the great pleasure to conduct the Polish Radio Choir and the Orkiestra Historyczna in two magnificent works by the Polish composer Stanislaw Moniuszko, whose 200th anniversary is celebrated this year: The Overture to the fairytale ‘Bajka' and the 'Sonety Krymskie' for four voice choir, orchestra and tenor.

Chopin Birthday Concert - March 1, 2019

Nice souvenirs from an unforgettable Chopin Birthday Concert, in the sold out Filharmonia Narodowa in Warsaw, with the excellent musicians of the Orkiestra Historyzcna, and the young pianist Tomasz Ritter, who performed brilliantly Lipinski's Symphony in C Major, Moniuszko's Bajka Overture and... Chopin's Piano Concerto in F Minor! Thanks to all of you!

Cello Biennale - October 2018

Happy faces after an unforgettable concert, yesterday, in a sold out Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam! Thanks to Quirine Viersen, Narek Hakhnazaryan & Alexander Warenberg for their beautiful performances and last but not least my congrats to the musicians of the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatorium Amsterdam!

With David Lang, composer in residence at the Cello Biennale Amsterdam. On Sunday 21 October I had the pleasure to conduct his Simple Song from the film Youth by Paolo Sorrentino, beautifully performed by Quirine Viersen & the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatorium Amsterdam!

CD review "The Children of The Sea"

Dirk Vermeulen’s new CD, "The Children of the Sea" (De Kinderen der Zee) has recently been released, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Phaedra label. This disc includes symphonic excerpts and arias from operas by the outstanding Flemish composers Lodewijk Mortelmans and August de Boeck, with the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen in Germany.

Here is what the Dutch critic Basia Jaworski wrote in the Dutch magazine Luister:

I am most impressed with this recording: the performance is beyond sublime. Under maestro Dirk Vermeulen, the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen plays as if their lives depended on it - it is breathtaking!

This CD is a must!
